Introducing Students to Their Field
- Example from Education - Education in the Community introduces freshmen to the wide-ranging opportunities in the field of education, including positions as classroom teachers (early childhood, elementary, secondary, special education), teachers working in health-care institutions (hospitals, clinics, family learning centers), school administrators, textbook editors and authors, and education policy advisors and researchers. Faculty in the various education disciplines, in collaboration with working professionals in their fields present seminars describing the nature of their work.
- Explore/Discover a major/discipline/college theme in which students are asked to discover aspects of their major or discipline.
- In the case of undeclared students, one option would be a "college" exploratory in which a variety of disciplines might be introduced to the student.
