Typically, in most classes,
the way I use cooperative learning, I'll present material
for some fraction of the class, usually at the start, and
then I'll have a number of problems that I want them to work
through. That'll usually take the second half of the class.
So usually there's some period during the class—say fifteen
to twenty minutes—when they're actively involved solving
things. They're either interacting with me or I'll have them
record … something on the board. That's how I build
[cooperative learning] into a classroom lecture.
