 Teambuilding Workshop

Procedures:

1.

Workshop Overview for Students

In this workshop, you will learn about different learning styles, the dynamics of effective teams, how to manage possible conflicts in groups, and how to write an effective team agreement.  You will participate in a short teambuilding activity in which you have to create a beam using materials, constraints, and requirements outlined in a handout.  You will also complete the Index of Learning Styles Questionnaire (Felder & Soloman) and record your results.

Teambuilding Workshop Presentation

The PowerPoint presentation, Teambuilding Workshop Presentation, will help the instructor to lead the students through the different activities in the workshop. 

In a nutshell, the presentation follows the outline below:

1.      Review/discussion of prior student experience

2.      Review/discussion of why teamwork is necessary

3.      Review of workshop goals

4.      Discussion on team organization

5.      Directions/discussion on Simply Supported Beams exercise

6.      Review and directions for completing Index of Learning Styles Questionnaire

7.      Discussion regarding learning styles and strategies

8.     Discussion and directions regarding the Team Working Agreement and effective teams in general
