I don't want to be too
obvious because . . . the dynamics of the group change if I
sit down with them. Right away . . . they start talking to
me instead of talking to each other, or they're
self-conscious about what they're saying. And so I'll try to
just sort of circulate and listen for what kind of consensus
is building. If a team is really getting off on the wrong
track, or they're not on task, I'll try to get them back on
task. Or if somebody says something that is particularly
insightful, I'll say, "Yes, that's exactly right. Let's . .
. keep going in that direction"-try to give them some
support.
