Karen Bossen is an Instructional Professional in the Center for Learning and Teaching Excellence at Arizona State University. She has been a college educator for over 17 years and is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist with 33 years experience as a practitioner, and academic professional.

Ms. Bossen provides workshops, seminars, and one-to-one assistance to faculty in developing student learning outcomes, concepts of problem-based learning, designing and developing hybrid courses. She has experience in portfolio development, developing meaningful internships and designing programmatic self studies.

Ms. Bossen received her Masters in Education with an emphasis in Higher Education from Northern Arizona University, and her Bachelor of Arts in Recreation with a Therapeutic Recreation Emphasis from Washington State University.

In addition to her work, Ms. Bossen has been actively engaged in professional organizations and has been a presenter at local, state, and national conventions. She has consulted for many hospital organizations and has developed successful therapeutic recreation internships nationally. Her current interests include understanding what motivates teachers, effectively writing and measuring student learning outcomes and designing and implementing professional portfolios.
